Vice Chairperson, National Commission for Safai Karamchari, Smt Anjana Panwar today chaired a meeting of senior officers of different departments to take stock of various welfare measures for Safai Karamcharis of Jammu and Kashmir. The Vice Chairperson took stock of various initiatives/activities undertaken by the various departments for the welfare of the Safai Karamcharis.

She also interacted with the representatives of various Safai Karamchari Associations and listened to their problems while ensuring resolution of their genuine issues. The VC took comprehensive details about working of JMC and other Municipal Committees and working condition of employees working in these institutions. 

The Commissioner JMC also briefed the meeting about the present status of working and steps being taken for the welfare of Safai Karamcharis. The VC directed Commissioner JMC to take necessary steps for the fulfilment of the demands of Safai Karamcharis in the Corporation and other committees like filing up of vacant posts.

She also directed health authorities to provide proper Health Checkups of the Safai Karamcharis during holding the health camps by the Health department.She also directed the concerned to provide uniforms alongwith shoes, rain coats on seasonal basis.

The VC directed concerned officers to provide group Insurance cover and Ayushman Health Card to all Safai Karamcharis those not been covered so far, so that they can take benefit from these schemes.The VC also took stock of salaries/wages of skilled/unskilled Safai Karamcharis and directed concerned to enhance thier salary/wages before disbursing those salaries on time.

The VC directed to construct Community Hall for Safai Karamcharis with provide at least one room for library. The VC stressed for the meetings with the Safai Karamchari at least once in a month and listen their issues being faced by them day to day and redressed the same accordingly.

The VC issued instruction to MD, SC, ST & BC Corporation to organise awareness camps with regard to benefits like education loans, housing loans etc.  She also instructed Chief Education Officer Jammu and police department for fulfilling the vacant posts of Safai Karamcharis and creation of fresh posts in their departments.

Among others, Commissioner JMC, Rahul Yadav, ADC Jammu, Chief Medical Officer, Managing Director, SC, ST & BC Corporation, senior officers of police and other concerned departments also attended the meeting.
