The Minister for Public Works and Power in Punjab, Harbhajan Singh E.T.O, stated that revamping the state's roads is the top priority of the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. He said that the Punjab government is working diligently to strengthen the road network of the state, leaving no black spots anywhere in the state.
Today, in Dasuya, in the presence of MLA Dasuya Karma Vir Singh Ghumman, he addressed the residents while initiating the construction work of the Dasuya-Kamahi Devi Road, spanning 20.23 kilometers and costing 9.50 crores. During this event, MLA Udmur Jasvir Singh Raja Gil, Block Chief Mukerian Prof. G.S. Multani, SDM Dasuya Pradeep Singh Bains, along with other dignitaries, were also present.
The Minister for Public Works addressed the impactful program conducted on this occasion, stating that this road is a crucial one for the border area and connects the National Highway Jalandhar-Pathankot (NH-44) to Dasuya, Talwara, Dholwaha, and the Haryana road at Kamahi Devi.
He mentioned that significant religious sites such as Pandav Sarovar Temple, Baba Lal Dayal Ji Temple, and Kamahi Devi Temple are situated along this road, which holds considerable significance in the region. Additionally, 30-40 villages are accessible through this road. He informed that the repair work on this road was scheduled under the Prime Minister's Gram Sadak Yojana in 2013 and was due for repair by 2018 as per the rules.
However, the previous governments did not address any repairs on this road, but now, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab government is strengthening the road network across the state, including the construction of this road. He stated that the construction work of the road will be completed by September 26, 2024.
Harbhajan Singh E.T.O mentioned that alongside road construction, the power network in the state has also been strengthened. He explained that when the Aam Aadmi Party government came to power, the Power Corporation was facing a loss of 1880 crores, and even after providing 600 units of free electricity to the people, the Power Corporation is now making a profit of 564 crores.
He said that the power situation in the state is robust, and the Punjab government has fulfilled its promise by providing free electricity up to 600 units to the people, resulting in more than 90% of the state's population receiving zero electricity bills.
MLA Dasuya Karambir Singh Ghuman expressed gratitude for the efforts of the Minister for Public Works, stating that his efforts are strengthening the road network in the area. He also thanked Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann for fulfilling every demand of the Dasuya constituency based on priority. On this occasion, Executive Engineer Manjeet Singh, SDE Davinder Pal, JE Yadwinder Sodhi, Baldev Raj, Ashok Kumar, and other dignitaries were also present.
