Ravinder Singh Brahmpura, the former MLA of Shiromani Akali Dal and in-charge of Khadoor Sahib Constituency, has recently voiced his strong reservations regarding the prison arrangements under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.

Addressing the media on Saturday at Jahangeer village in Khadoor Sahib, Brahmpura criticized the Aam Aadmi Party-led Punjab government for its failure in managing the jail ministry and expressed concern over the lack of experience displayed by Bhagwant Mann.

Brahmpura highlighted that the Punjab and Haryana High Court had reprimanded the Punjab Police and the Special Operation Cell for the alarming revelation that around 43,000 calls were made from the Central Jail of Ferozepur in Punjab, facilitating illicit drug trade worth crores of rupees.

These serious allegations bring into question the effectiveness of the current jail administration and pose a threat to the safety and security of the Punjab people. However, that similar conditions exist in Goindwal Jail, which falls within my constituency, where drugs, mobile phones, and illicit activities are observed on a daily basis, " he stated.

Brahmpura further accused the Aam Aadmi Party of deliberately empowering the gangster mafia during their current tenure, resulting in a situation where gangsters fearlessly give interviews on television channels. He questioned whether Bhagwant Mann's priorities solely revolve around trivial matters such as arranging travel for Kejriwal or allocating hefty amounts for party advertisements, rather than ensuring the welfare and security of the Punjab people.

Brahmpura also criticized the state government for providing heavy police security to the Aam Aadmi Party and their families, yet failing to address the pressing issues within Punjab's jails. He emphasized the dire consequences of this negligence, referencing past incidents where renowned artists of Punjab fell victim to the gangster mafia.

Such circumstances have created an environment discouraging big businessmen from investing in Punjab due to concerns over mafia influence. In light of these grave concerns, Brahmpura called for an immediate and unbiased inquiry by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the incompetence displayed by the jail administration.

The safety of the Punjab people should not be compromised under the rule of the Aam Aadmi Party. Brahmpura urged the people of Punjab to have faith in the leadership of (SAD) Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal and to impart a lesson to the AAP in the forthcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections. On this occasion, Dalbir Singh Jahangeer, Sardul Singh, Hazoor Singh Foji, Gurdev Singh, Manjit Singh, Prem Singh Jahangeer and others were present.
