JD Institute of Fashion Technology, in collaboration with Records MAYA and the Speaking Art Foundation, presented a unique exhibition from May 5–7, 2023. The exhibition aimed to promote sustainable practices and inspire change through artistic expression.

The inauguration of the exhibition was graced by the esteemed presence of H. E. Naor Gilon, the Ambassador of the Embassy of Israel to India, along with several other distinguished guests. The exhibition showcased creative and thought-provoking artworks and served as a platform for students to actively participate and showcase their creativity by repurposing the old vinyl records.

By embedding sustainability in their artistic interpretations, the students aimed to raise awareness and encourage others to adopt eco-friendly practices in their daily lives. Speaking of the inauguration ceremony, Ms. Akshra Dalal, Director of JD Institute of Fashion Technology, added, "We are honoured to have had Ambassador Gilon for the inauguration ceremony of our exhibition, and we are grateful for the collaboration with Records MAYA and Speaking Art Foundation in promoting sustainability through art. "

Ms. Rupal Dalal, Managing Director of JD Institute of Fashion Technology further added, “The response from visitors has been overwhelmingly positive. They were impressed by the innovative use of vinyl records and how they were transformed into beautiful pieces of art by students.

This exhibition is part of our ongoing commitment to promoting sustainable practices in the design industry and creating a more sustainable future.” "The proceeds from this one-of-a-kind exhibition will be donated to the Make a Wish India Foundation, which is well-known for its charitable work and grants wishes to kids with critical illnesses." said Mr. Harsh Dalal, director of the JD Institute of Fashion Technology.

"This will ensure that the event's positive effects extend beyond the realm of the arts." By creatively repurposing old vinyl records that would have otherwise ended up in landfills, the exhibition gave forgotten objects a new lease on life.

It served as a powerful reminder of the need to protect our planet and embrace the 3 Rs—reduce, reuse, and recycle—urging visitors to adopt more eco-friendly practices. The collaborative effort between the JD Institute, Records MAYA, and the Speaking Art Foundation has set a remarkable example for the art community and society as a whole.

Through their support for a noble cause and encouragement of artists to think creatively about sustainability, this exhibition has left an indelible mark on the quest for a greener future. As the resounding impact of this extraordinary exhibition continues to echo, one can only hope that it will ignite similar initiatives worldwide.

It serves as a powerful demonstration that the fusion of art and sustainability can drive meaningful change and inspires us on our collective journey towards a more environmentally conscious world.
