Google's parent company Alphabet Inc has eliminated around 12000 jobs from the company or 6 % of its workforce. This has been released by the company on the3 Friday in the latest cut which has shaken the entire technology sector. Sundar Pichai, The CEO of Alphabet said in a staff note conveyed with Reuters that the firm had rapidly extended headcount in recent years “for a different economic reality than the one we face today”.
He also said that “I will take full responsibility for the decision that has led us here’. The reductions came a few days after rival Microsoft Corporation. announced the layoff of 10,000 employees. Teams across the organisation, including recruiting, various corporate operations, as well as some technical and product teams, are impacted by job losses at Alphabet. U.S. employees are immediately affected by the worldwide cutbacks.

The procedure will take longer in other countries due to local employment rules and norms, the message stated, but Alphabet has already emailed affected employees in those countries. The announcement comes at a time when both the economy and technology are showing great promise, and Google and Microsoft have been making investments in the developing field of software known as generative artificial intelligence.

One day before Microsoft also announced the layoff of around 10,000 jobs. And Before Microsoft, it was Amazon that declared the largest layoff in history. And after these two firms now Google parent firm Alphabet has also announced the same to lay off around 12000 jobs.
