Bhagwant Mann, the Chief Minister of Punjab, who earlier held a press conference in Pathankot, has conversed with the media regarding many issues. These are about farmers, the crime rate, Sidhu Moosewala murder updates, and many more. However, he recently appeared live once again and said that the Punjab farmers' year-long demonstrations against the three problematic agriculture policies of the Centre had caused the BJP-led Central Government to single them out for stubble burning.

In a live video, the CM of Punjab said, “We had asked the Centre to give incentives to farmers for not burning paddy stubble, but they did not agree. We even asked them to promote the biogas industry, but they did not do so. Now, they are defaming Punjabi farmers for their year-long struggle against the three contentious farm laws.”

He further targeted the government by saying that the Center was accusing Punjab farmers of stubble-burning even when similar incidents were being reported from Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, too. According to him, “it shows how they are trying to politicise the issue. Why question only Punjab on the worsening AQI, when Faridabad in Haryana has the worst AQI? No questions are raised on Haryana and Rajasthan, where farmers have also been involved in stubble-burning,”

At the end of the session, he concluded by saying, “The Centre writes to the Punjab Government frequently, asking how many cases have been registered against farmers in the state. Why should we book farmers? Are they criminals?”

He also said that rice is sold at MSP and that the Centre is not helping. Irrespective of help, they blamed Punjab’s farmers. Watch the full video:
