Director General Social Welfare Department Jammu, Vivek Sharma, is on a one day tour to Doda district  to be part of the Jan Abhiyaan kick-started by theUT Govt –as a prelude to Back to Village programme phase-IV.

During the visit, the Director General visited Nari Niketan, wherein she interacted with the inmates of the Children Home and took first hand appraisal of the facilities being provided to them.Earlier, an awareness programme on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao was also organised in the conference Hall of DC Office complex Doda under the supervision of DSWO, Tariq Qazi . 

On the occasion, the girls from Nari Niketan and Government Girls Higher Secondary School presented a skit and spoke about BBBP. District Programme Officer ICDS Doda and officials of Mission Shakti One Stop Centre, District Hub for Empowerment of Women, ICPS, ICDS also participated in the event.

 The Director General also visited District Hospital Doda and distributed baby kits among the new born girl children as an initiative to honour the birth of Girl child.Speaking at the event, she emphasised the importance of providing girls with better education and encouraging them to take advantage of different welfare schemes like Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, the Widow Pension, which as per the revised rules has no restrictions of 40 years bar and the Unique Disability ID Card (UDID Card). 

She also spoke about Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyaan and emphasised the role of girls in combating this menace.
