To sensitize people about the ‘National Senior Citizens Day', the Social Welfare Department Doda under the aegis of District Administration Doda, in collaboration with Directorate of Ayush and Elderline J&K on Sunday organised Yoga, Health screening and Medical aid camp at Doda and Bhadarwah.

Around 200 persons including senior citizens and civil society members of district Doda, staff of District Social Welfare Office Doda, Tehsil Social Welfare Office, District Ayush Office participated with full zeal.At the outset, a yoga session was held to acquit the senior citizens about the asanas beneficial for staying healthy and managing stress.

After that, Tariq Parvez Qazi, District Social Welfare Officer briefed the audience about the importance of National Senior Citizens Day and its objectives.The team of Elderline briefed the participants about services provided by the organisation like medical and legal aid, welfare services and protection against violence and shelter to the elderly who call on 14567 – the toll free number of Elderline.

The Ayush team distributed kits of Ayurvedic medicines and conducted the medical checkup of all the participants which included  BP and sugar monitoring.Later, the District Social Welfare Officer along with his team provided walking sticks to the participants.
