What is Fatty Liver?

Fatty liver is a disease in which fat accumulates on the liver.

As we all know that the liver is an important part of our body which not only helps in digesting food but also helps in removing toxins i.e., poisonous and harmful substances from the body. Along with this, the liver stores energy in the form of glucose.

  • Fatty liver disease is generally found in 30% of the people.

  • This disease is also found in 5% of children.

  • More than 90% of those who drink alcohol, they also have this disease because the biggest reason for having fatty liver is uncontrolled consumption of alcohol.

Causes of Fatty Liver -

Fat Accumulation:

Accumulation of fat in the body is not considered good for health. No matter which part or front of the body is fat, it definitely affects the person. The deposition of fat not only spoils the shapely shape of the body but also a person has to face many diseases.

Uncontrolled Lifestyle:

Obesity and uncontrolled lifestyle play a major role in the causes of fatty liver.Especially in obese people, this evidence is more visible because they are more likely to already have diabetes and liver diseases. This condition is called Metabolic dysfunction associated with fatty liver disease. There are other reasons for having fatty liver such as Wilson's disease, hyperlipidaemia liver disease and other virus infections that cause fatty liver. Along with this, fatty liver is also found in people who have rheumatoid arthritis.

Physical Problems or Diseases:

Fatty liver syndrome is not necessarily the result of excessive accumulation of fat only, but this disease can also be born due to other physical diseases.Having high triglycerides, being overweight and having diabetes also increases the risk of fatty liver. High triglyceride is a type of disease in which the fat found in the blood increases significantly.

Unbalanced Diet:

Having a balanced diet is an important thing in itself. If there is a lack of nutrients in the diet or if the number of calories is high, then the body may have to face problems. Consumption of more fatty things, fried things and junk food etc. increases the number of calories in the body. This can lead to fatty liver.

There are 2 types of fatty liver-

1.) Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease:

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is a disease that is not caused by drinking alcohol. It is commonly seen in people. The real reason for this may be due to irregular eating habits and improper lifestyle. Often some kind of swelling occurs on the liver. The reason for this inflammation can also be the deposition of fat on the liver. This could be a sign of a type of simple fatty liver. Simple fatty liver disease is not so dangerous, whereas non-alcoholic steatohepatitis is a type of liver disease that can be a sign of danger. In this disease, along with inflammation of the liver, liver cells can also be damaged. Later, the risk of liver cancer has also been seen from this.

2.) Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease:

Drinking alcohol causes a lot of damage to the liver. Our liver works to remove harmful substances from food and drink. It can be considered a type of filter or purification machine. Alcohol is no less than a poison to the liver. People who consume alcohol can suffer from fatty liver disease. Due to the consumption of alcohol, the liver has to work more, which can affect the functioning of the liver. Although the liver removes alcohol from the body, the harmful substances separated from alcohol still have the ability to damage the liver cells by staying in the body. This can not only increase the problem of inflammation but also starts depositing fat on the liver. The accumulation of fat on the liver due to drinking alcohol is a sign of early liver disease. In the future, it can not only give rise to diseases like hepatitis and cirrhosis, but it also increases the risk of cancer.
