Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Sh. Shyam Singh Rana said that the India International Horticulture Market (IIHM) project at Ganaur is an ambitious initiative that will give a new direction to the horticulture sector in the state. The project will provide farmers with better market facilities, modern infrastructure, and opportunities to sell their produce at the global level.

Sh. Shyam Singh Rana was presiding over a review meeting of Haryana National Horticulture Marketing Corporation Limited, Ganaur, held in Chandigarh on Wednesday. During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on six major agenda items related to the India International Horticulture Market project.

The Agriculture Minister directed the officers to complete the entire project at the earliest. He said that the Ganaur market will become the first choice for farmers and traders in the coming times. The market is being developed as a state-of-the-art and world-class facility for farmers and traders. 

The key objective of this ambitious project is to ensure remunerative prices for fruits, vegetables, and horticulture produce of farmers from Haryana and neighbouring states, while reducing their dependence on middlemen.Sh. Shyam Singh Rana said that equipped with international-level facilities, the market will have modern cold storage, processing, and packaging facilities. 

Through electronic trading and efficient logistics systems, large traders from across the country and abroad will be able to directly connect with farmers. He said that with 67 per cent of the construction work already completed and the allocation of the business plan expected within this month, the market will soon emerge as a global trade hub, increasing farmers’ income and giving a new dimension to horticulture trade.

The Agriculture Minister issued strict directions for completing the remaining works at the earliest. During the meeting, approval was also granted for important agenda items related to shed number 14 and false ceiling works.The Agriculture Minister was apprised that tenders have already been invited for preparing a business plan to ensure the smooth functioning and commercial success of the project. 

The business plan is expected to be allotted within this month.Additional Chief Secretary, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department, Sh. Vijayendra Kumar, Director General, Agriculture Department, Sh.  Rajnarayan Kaushik, Managing Director, Haryana National Horticulture Marketing Corporation Limited, Shri Anish Yadav, Chief Administrator, Sh. Dharmender Singh, Special Secretary, Finance Department, Sh. Manoj Kumar, Chief Engineer Sh.  Mohinder Singh, along with other senior officers, were  also present during the meeting.
