Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab leader and spokesperson Ahbab Grewal has accused the Congress government of deliberately not taking any major action in the cases registered against the liquor mafia in the state. In a press conference held at the party headquarters on Thursday, Grewal alleged that the Channi government was trying to suppress the illicit liquor case registered against Congress MLA Parminder Singh Pinki. He said that despite the strong evidence that Pinki's brother-in-law Harjinder Singh Sangha was involved in the illegal liquor business; no action has been taken so far.Grewal said that in this case, the driver of Harjinder Singh Sangha has clearly told in the affidavit filed on 22 February 2021 to the investigating agency ED (Enforcement Directorate) that he (driver) used to pick up liquor in the vehicle of Harjinder Singh Sangha and named the places where he used to deliver. Complete information about bank details related to illegal business of liquor is also given in the affidavit.

Despite having so much solid evidence, the Channi government is deliberately not taking any action against its MLA. Grewal said that liquor mafia has full blessings of Channi government. He accused the Congress government of promoting the officers involved in this illegal business with the liquor mafia and said that instead of taking action against the officers involved in the liquor mafia, the Congress government was honouring them by promoting.Grewal has also accused the Channi government of tampering with the compensation given to the farmers for the loss of crops and told that Rs. 12 crores of compensation is to be distributed among the farmers of Ferozepur in Punjab. According to the list of farmers prepared by the government, the farmers who are being given this compensation do not have even an inch of land in their name. The names of the farmers, who are rightfully entitled to this compensation, are not even included in the list.

Grewal accused that, those who raised his voice on the compensation scam are being intimidated and said that a person named Varinder Singh had sought information about it all under RTI. But instead of giving information, the government has filed a case against him, so that people stay silent out of fear. The Channi government is using the police-administration and investigative agencies for its political gains. Grewal said that due to the connivance of the Congress government with the mafia and smugglers, the atmosphere of Punjab has deteriorated and an atmosphere of fear has arisen among the people. Aam Aadmi Party Punjab spokesperson Jagtar Singh Sanghera, Malwinder Singh Kang and Govinder Mittal were also present with Ahbab Grewal during this press conference.
