Aam Aadmi Party has got a big boost in Punjab. Senior Congress leader Lalli Majithia, former MP Professor Sadhu Singh's daughter Dr. Baljit Kaur and BSP state general secretary Gurbaksh Singh joined the Aam Aadmi Party at Amritsar today. AAP state president Bhagwant Mann and party's co-in-charge of Punjab affairs Raghav Chadha and Leader of Opposition Harpal Singh Cheema formally inducted all the leaders into the party.Sukhjinder Raj Singh Lalli alias Lalli Majithia was an influential Congress leader in Majha region. He is very popular among the people of the region and his hold is very strong in every section of the society. Lalli Majithia along with hundreds of his colleagues, associates left the Congress party and joined AAP on Saturday. Along with the joining, the party has also declared Lalli Majithia as its candidate from Majitha assembly constituency.Current state general secretary of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Gurbaksh Singh, BSP state secretary Savinder Singh, BSP leader and former DSP of Punjab Police Prahlad Singh, BSP leaders Khajan Singh, Ram Singh and Jagtar Singh also joined AAP.
The prominent names who joined the party on Saturday are Dr Baljit Kaur, daughter of senior Aam Aadmi Party leader and former Faridkot MP Professor Sadhu Singh. Baljit Kaur is a very popular eye surgeon and well-known social worker. Before joining AAP, she was serving as a specialist doctor in the health department. She performed eyes’ operation of thousands of poor people free of cost by setting up camps in the area and provided medical facilities to the people.Welcoming the joining leaders to the party, State President Bhagwant Mann said that Aam Aadmi Party is a party of the poor and common people. Today, people of all sections of Punjab are supporting the Aam Aadmi Party and are increasing their strength by joining the party. Raghav Chadha said that due to the mutual collusion of Akali Dal Badal and Congress in Majitha, Akali Dal has been winning continuously for many elections. The Aam Aadmi Party shall break this alliance by fielding a strong candidate in the form of Lalli Majithia. We are sure that Lalli Majithia will fight Akali-Congress with full force and will make Aam Aadmi Party victorious from this seat.
