The district administration is on the Job to upgrade the existing Solid Waste Management plant in Doda and Bhaderwah Township.New machines are being installed which includes Baler Machine, Shredder Machine, Composite Machines etc at the twin Municipalities. The Municipal Committees are going to provide two dustbins of different colours to each household for segregation of waste.The information was shared at the District Environment Committee meeting convened to review the District Environment Plan.The meeting chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Dr. Ravi Kumar Bharti held threadbare discussion regarding action taken on execution of DEP in the district by different departments, which include Solid Waste management, Plastic waste management, Bio-medical Waste Management, Domestic Sewage Management and Water Waste Management, demolition waste etc.While reviewing the bio medical waste management, the CMO informed the Committee that bio medical waste is being lifted on weekly basis according to the set norms and nothing is being kept in the premises of the Associated Hospital and in other hospitals of the district.Other than the Bio medical waste, other waste is being lifted by MC Doda from Associated Hospital on a daily basis as per the agreement.Regarding water conservation, the ADC directed all the stakeholders to ensure that the water bodies are not exposed to pollution in the District.The committee decided to hold a monthly review meeting on the 1st Wednesday of each month from October onwards.
