At the call of Samyukt Kisan Morcha, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab observed 'Black Day' by carrying black flags and protesting in front of the Punjab Governor's residence  on Wednesday. Led by party’s MLA and state Kissan Wing president Kultar Singh Sandhwan and Youth Wing president and MLA Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, the AAP workers  and office bearers observed ‘Black Day’ and raised slogans in favour of the farmers' rights and against the central government; demanding to repeal the three black farm laws. On  the occasion, Kultar Singh Sandhwan said that at a time when the entire country was grappling with the Covid-19 pandemic; what was the need for the Union government to bring  three black farm laws?Sandhwan said that the Union government had neither consulted with the farmers' organisations nor with other political parties in the country to enact and  implement the new agricultural laws. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have adopted a dictatorial attitude and issued an anti-farmer and anti-labor  law,” he added. He further said that six months had passed since the farmers of the country struggled against the black farm laws and more than 450 farmers had died, which  was very unfortunate. Sandhwan said that the laws which were being opposed by the farmers, laborers and agronomists of the country; the Union Government should not insist  on imposing such black laws in the country.Addressing the media, Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer said that while the country's farmers had been agitating against the Union  government for the last six months to get the black farm laws repealed; they were also fighting the Covid-19 pandemic. Hayer said that more than 450 agitators had been killed in  the movement, but the Narendra Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government had remained silent. He said that every child of the country was standing with the farmers’  movement and that is why the Narendra Modi government should agree to the demands of the farmers and repeal the three black farm laws so that the pace of development of  the country could be maintained.
