Dir Horticulture flags off group of 15 Orchardists for exposure tour

A group of 15 Orchardists, drawn from different zones of Jammu Division, was today flagged off for 5 day exposure tour by Director Horticulture, Ram Savak.The tour has been organized under Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) scheme.The farmers will visit KVK, Reasi, Advance Center for Horticulture Development (ACHD) Govindpura, Ramban, besides different Nurseries of Kathua and Jammu Districts.During the tour, the farmers will imparted training regarding basics of nursery management and standard propagation techniques, importance of high density plantation, protected cultivation, canopy management and other latest Horticulture development techniques.While interacting with the Orchardists, the Director Horticulture highlighted the importance of Horticulture. He emphasized that the farmers being the backbone of UT’s economy need such kind of Training/ Exposure visits to equip them to become skilled farmers to tap the Horticulture potential in their areas.Deputy Director Horticulture, Jammu, Shafiqa Khalid, Chief Horticulture Officer, Jammu, S. Sarbjit Singh and other officers were also present on the occasion.
