DDC Doda reviews arrangements for Covid-19 vaccine roll out

District Development Commissioner (DDC) Doda, Dr Sagar D Doifode on Tuesday chaired a meeting to review the arrangements for the expected roll out of Covid-19 vaccination in the district.The meeting discussed requirements including availability and requirement of vaccinators, vaccine carriers, ILR, Deep Freezers, power supply and other requirements at vaccine centers.The meeting was informed that various COVID-19 vaccines are currently in the third phase of clinical trials and will be shortly available for usage. As such, the Department of Health was asked to do the preparatory planning beforehand, and compile the database of potential vaccinators, prioritization of groups to be administered the vaccine in the initial phases.It was given out that the district has 192 vaccination points and 23 cold chain plants available, while 12 more cold chain plants shall be added to meet the demand.The DDC was also apprised that additional requirement for ILR, Deep Freezers, Cold boxes have already been forwarded to the concerned higher authorities to ensure the hassle free vaccination.The DDC stressed upon the concerned to identify the places in their respective health buildings for the placement of additional ILRs which shall be provided to them for the storage of vaccine within the stipulated time frame.

Besides, the DDC directed the concerned BMOs to ensure 2 hr distance between Storage point and vaccine point. He further directed them to map all the locations in their respective block well before the start of vaccination.The DDC directed the District immunization officer to conduct the physical verification of each storage point and submit the feasibility report within 15 days.Moreover, the DDC directed to generate accurate database of beneficiaries of each block and   frame the timeline for the smooth and timely conduct of each activity related to Covid-19 vaccination.Asking the concerned to be ready for successful implementation of Government vaccination plan, he said that all the logistic and additional Infrastructure support would be provided to the health department to execute the vaccination plan.He further asked the concerned officers to work out the man power requirement for organizing dedicated COVID-vaccination drives and further ensure that the existing arrangements for COVID-19 testing and routine immunization drives are not compromised with.The Department was also advised to maintain the record of vaccinators in advance to avoid delay at the time of vaccination.The DC called for maintaining greater coordination and good homework at the ground level for the effective implementation of the Vaccination program in the district.Among others present in the meeting were CMO Doda, DHO Doda, BMOs, District Immunization officer, District Epidemiologist, Junior Health Educators, Extension Educators, besides other concerned officials.
