Adding another feather in its cap, Sangrur district,on Wednesday, bagged the Best District Award in ‘North Water Conservation National Award’ category organised by ministry of Jal Shakti. Union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat felicitated Deputy Commissioner Mr Ramvir in a virtual event for district administration’s efforts in special campaign of government run from July 1, 2019 to September 30, 2019 for conservation of water.After receiving the award, DC Ramvir thanked the union minister and congratulated the district residents and staff of Rural Development and Panchayat department for their continuous and rigorous efforts to save water. He said that it was the need of hour to conserve water for better future of upcoming generations. He added that apart from other conservation efforts, Sangrur administration have planted thousands of trees in villages.DC appealed the district residents to wisely use the water for their daily activities and also appealed the farmers to adopt water saving techniques for watering their crops. He added that the administration will boost its efforts to improve the depleting ground water table which would secure the interests of future generations.
