Punjab Cabinet Minister Aman Arora today visited the villages of Kila Bhariyan and Bahadurpur in his constituency under the 'Lok Milni' (Public Outreach) programme, where he interacted with local residents and listened to their grievances and demands. A large number of villagers and local residents gathered on the occasion and accorded a warm welcome to the Cabinet Minister.
Speaking to the media, Cabinet Minister Aman Arora said that, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Aam Aadmi Party government has launched a special statewide initiative under which ministers, MLAs and senior government officials are visiting people in their respective areas to address their grievances at their doorstep.
As part of this initiative, he is touring different villages to understand the concerns and aspirations of the people firsthand. The Minister said that the historic and unprecedented development works undertaken by the AAP government over the past four and a half years are well known to the people.
"We do not need to publicise our achievements because the people themselves are appreciating the government's work. They are expressing satisfaction that projects and initiatives which were once considered impossible have now become a reality under the present government," he said.
During the programme, he also received several memoranda, including demands from sports clubs and youth organisations for the establishment of gym facilities, and assured them that these demands would be addressed at the earliest. Launching a scathing attack on the Congress, Aman Arora said that the party has become completely fragmented due to internal conflicts and infighting.
He alleged that none of its leaders is concerned about Punjab, Punjabi identity or the state's development and that they remain occupied with pulling each other down and safeguarding their own political interests. He claimed that in the 2027 Assembly elections, the Congress would fail to secure even a double-digit tally.
Responding to a media query regarding Punjab's dark phase and recently discussed films, including the film based on Jaswant Singh Khalra, the Minister said that Punjab has endured a long and painful period of violence during which many sons of the state lost their lives. Whether it is about safeguarding human rights or presenting historical truths, he said, it must always be remembered that Punjab is the land of the Gurus, where humanity and secularism remain the highest values.
He appealed to all sections of society to ensure that the state's communal harmony and peaceful atmosphere remain undisturbed under all circumstances. Replying to a question about the upcoming elections, Aman Arora clarified that the decision regarding the election schedule rests solely with the Election Commission. However, he said that the Aam Aadmi Party, its workers and the people of Punjab are always prepared for elections, as the party seeks votes on the basis of its performance and development works.
Several prominent local leaders, panches and sarpanches, along with a large number of residents, were present on the occasion.
