NABARD can contribute more in strengthening farm economy : Kalraj Mishra

Governor Kalraj Mishra said that National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) could contribute more in strengthening the agricultural economy of Himachal Pradesh, where the economy is largely dependent on farm sector.He was speaking during a meeting with Chief General Manager of the NABARD Nilay D. Kapoor who called him at Raj Bhawan today.The Governor stressed on increasing farmer producer organizations in the state and complete digitalization of self-help groups. He said the bank can also pay an important role in tribal development through its financing activities. He also urged for cooperation to further strengthen rural infrastructure development.The Governor said that NABARD should come forward to cooperate for marketing related activities in the state so that proper arrangements can be made available to farmers for sale of their produce.Shri Kapoor apprised the Governor about the various schemes being run by the NABARD and informed about various programs implemented for the development of rural economy.
