Governor congratulates agriculture university for achieving 11th rank

Governor Kalraj Mishra has expressed happiness that Chaudhary Sarvan Kumar Agricultural University, Palampur has jumped from 23rd to 11th rank among 75 agricultural universities of the country.While holding discussion on the working of the University with Vice Chancellor Prof. Ashok Sarial, who paid a courtesy call to him today at the Raj Bhawan, the Governor said that the university should make more efforts to further improve its ranking. He said it is matter of pleasure that a record 17,000 applications have been received for 152 seats in agriculture and veterinary programmes. He expressed happiness said that university has done a good job in expansion and research work.The governor directed to make concerted efforts to further promote organic and natural farming and said that focus should be on providing qualitative education.Shri Mishra said that he himself would attend the meetings of the advisory committee set up at the university level to communicate directly with the farmers. He said that he will also be visiting the University shortly.Prof Ashok Sarial briefed achievements of the University during the last three years and said that natural farming centre has been set up in the University last year which is first of it's kind in the country. He said that more than 40,000 farmers are being trained and provided services by university extension department annually.
