District Legal Services Authority, Barnala on 24.07.2018, arranged an Awareness Walkathon against Drugs abuse and for Environment Protection and Tree plantation, under the guidelines and instructions of Smt. Ramesh Kumari, Ld. In-Charge District & Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Barnala and in assistance with Municipal Committee, Forest Department and Lions Club, Barnala. The said awareness walkathon was flagged from District Court Complex, Barnala by Smt. Ramesh Kumari, Ld.  In-charge District & Sessions Judge, Barnala at 6:30 a.m. in presence of Sh. Ajaib Singh Ld. District Judge (Family Court), Sh. Jarnail Singh Ld. CJ(SD), Sh. Gurpartap Singh Ld. CJM, Sh. P.S. Kaleka Ld. CJM-cum-Secretary District Legal Services Authority, Smt. Ruhi Dhug ADC, Sh. Sandeep Kumar SDM, Sh. Jugal Kishore Civil Surgeon, Sh. Karamjit Singh AC (G), Sh. Rajinder Singh Nagpal Ld. CJ (JD) and Smt. Kulwinder Kaur Ld. CJ(JD), Sh. Sharanjit Singh SP(H), Sh. Sukhdev Singh Virk SP (D), Sh. Rakesh Chhibar DSP, Sh. Ajit Singh Forest Range Officer, Sh. Parwinder Singh EO (Municipal Committee) Barnala along-with staff and students and faculty from Mother Teacher School, Sacred Heart Convent  School, Y.S School,  Sarvhitkari Senior Secondary School, SD Senior Sec. School, Kings Group of Collages, Govt. Senior Secondary School (Girls), Govt. Senior Secondary School, (Sandhu Patti),  Raghuvir Parkash Senior Secondary School and Shishu Modal School, GOGs from various villages, members of Youth Services, Senior Citizens’ Association, Swachh Bharat Mission, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Penal Advocates and Para Legal Volunteers besides other eminent personalities from District Barnala. The said Walkathon with about 500 people went through KC Road and reached Shaheed Bhagat Singh Park, where the gathering was addressed by Smt. Ramesh Kumari, Ld. Incharge District & Sessions Judge, Sh. Sandeep Kumar SDM,  Sh. Jugal Kishore Civil Surgeon and Sh. Sharanjit Singh Virk SP (H). All the eminent personalities made the people aware about ill-effects of drugs on their health and motivate them to stay away from drugs and also requested them to help the drug addicts to leave drugs for healthy life. The gathering was also made aware about importance of tree plantation in order to save the environment. The school students and people present at the spot gave assurance that they will plant maximum number of trees for better future and ensure their survival. At the spot students and other people present in the gathering were given trees by Forest Department, free of  cost.Sh. PS Kaleka, Ld.CJM-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Barnala told that main motive of the walkathon arranged by District Legal Services Authority, Barnala is to make people aware about the ill-effects of drugs and to motivate them to leave drugs and plant more trees for healthy life and clean atmosphere for better future. Sh. P.S. Kaleka also told about whereas NALSA Schemes and working of Legal Services Authority and also extended warm thanks to the students, the eminent personalities and participants from the District Barnala for attending the walkathon.
