To spruce up a joint fight against drugs, the District Administration and District Police reiterated that nobody would be spared involved in drug trafficking and distracting our innocent youth by way of addiction.

Addressing the second awareness camp organized by the District Police led by SSP Dr. Sandeep Garg, Deputy Commissioner Mrs Aashika Jain said that the fight against drugs is not limited to the Punjab Government or Punjab Police, it is our duty and responsibility to be part of this campaign to eradicate the drugs from the soil of Punjab.

“We are doing our duty of enforcement as well as awareness regularly and now the people should come forward to support our efforts by giving information of the drug traffickers and victims.”She said that the WhatsApp helpline number 80541-00112 can be contacted by sending a message and the District Police will definitely redress their problem.

The number is being directly monitored by the SSP Dr Sandeep Garg, she added. Interacting with youth and getting feedback on drugs, she assured them of strong action against the peddlers and a helping hand to those who want to get out of this darkness. She said that the District Police in coordination with district administration is doing its duty diligently to root out the drug menace.

SP (Rural) Manpreet Singh and ASP Derabassi Mrs Darpan Ahluwalia while interacting with the residents assured them of no reluctance in police action against the drug peddlers. They said that as per the instruction of SSP SAS Nagar, the Police are already in service of the victims who want to get de-addiction treatment.

Citing a recent example, they said that in an FIR under section 27 of the NDPS act, all three persons who were arrested were put on de-addiction treatment after getting due permission from the Court under section 64 (A).

They assured the Deputy Commissioner that the area which is known as the Hot Spot of drugs would soon be known as Drug Free area. SHO Ajitesh Kaushal apprised the Deputy Commissioner of the action taken by the Derabassi Police Station against the drugs.

Deputy Commissioner Mrs Aashika Jain also distributed 50 blankets to needy persons on behalf of Lions Club, Derabassi and appreciated their humility. Two rehabilitated youths were the main attraction of the awareness programme against drugs who shared their experiences and changes in life after shunning the drugs.

They appealed to others too to come out of this bad habit and start a new chapter of their lives by joining their families again. SDM Derabassi and Himanshu Gupta were also present there.
