Punjab Democratic Party(PDP) today said that the bill adopted by Punjab Vidhan Sabha to regularise the jobs of 27000 contract and ad hoc employees is futile exercise since the Governor of Punjab had already rejected the ordinance issued by state government on technical grounds.Er.Gurkirpal Singh President of PDP in a statement here said that the aim of calling special assembly session for passing the bill was to mislead the employees and it was another attempt to shed crocodiles tears over plight of government employees. He said that Finance Department has already told the Governor that state cant bear an additional financial liability of Rs.2500 crore per annum due to regularisation of employees. He also flayed state government for re-employing the retired employees at higher salaries and not paying even basic salary to contract and adhoc employees. He said that Badal government had subjected the employees and unemployed youth to unbearable trauma during last ten years.

PDP President said that Punajb Government employees were not paid dues of 6th Pay commission and neither they are paid last installment of dearness allowance. Punjab employees are demanding to revive old pension scheme. Due to closure of pension shceme the employees have lost social security after retirement. SAD-BJP government has also failed to implement Supreme Court order of equal work and equal pay. There is gross disparity in pay structure of various categories.Er.Gurkirpal Singh said that while Badal government was promising new insurance schemes to employees, it has not so far extended its contract of cashless health insurance with the concerned company and this scheme would expire on December 31, 2016. The employees would not be able to avail the health insurance in 2017, if agreement is not signed with insurance company before its expiry. He said that anger among the employees would prove last nail in the coffin of SAD-BJP Government. he appealed the employees to punish the government for its anti-employee policies.
