The Punjab Government today took a significant decision to provide a financial help of Rs. 7.50 lakh to the family of Sukhdev Singh of village gharangna who was murdered recently.Disclosing this, Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes Welfare Minister, Punjab,  Gulzar Singh Ranike said that in a meeting of the higher officials of the department convened today, he directed the departmental officials to provide aid of Rs. 7.50 lakh to the family of the victim and deposit 75 percent of the compensation amount immediately into the account of district administration and also ensure that this amount reaches the victim family.S. Ranike also said that the Secretary, Welfare has been instructed to direct all the Deputy Commissioners and SSPs through a letter to ensure protection and safeguarding the rights of SC community and prevent any atrocities upon them.The minister further revealed that a committee headed by MLA Joginder Singh Jindu has been formed to probe the issue and submit a report. He assured that the state government would leave no stone un-turned to ensure justice to the victim’s family.On the occasion, the Secretary of the Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes Welfare department Mr. Kirpa Shankar Saroj divulged that 75 percent of the compensation amount which comes around to Rs. 5.62 lakhs have been transferred to the account of district administration.
