Punjab Gets ‘Best Animal Husbandry Award For 2016’

The Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development department, Punjab, has been bestowed with the ‘Best Animal Husbandry Award For 2016’ owing to rapid development in the Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development sector. The award was presented by the Governor, Haryana  Mr. Kaptan Singh Solanki in the 9th Global Agriculture Leadership Awards-2016 organised by the Union Government.Disclosing this, Animal Husbandry minister, Punjab, Gulzar Singh Ranike said that the Indian Council of Food and Agriculture has been annually organizing a special programme since 2008 in which the modernization programmes, developments and achievements of the state governments in Agriculture, Horticulture and Animal Husbandry sectors are evaluated in terms of the influence of state government initiatives on the lives of the farming community.

The minister further said that it is a matter of pride for the state that National Award Committee under the Chairmanship of Prof. M.S. Swaminathan has rewarded the initiatives of the Punjab Government undertaken to transform Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development sectors through various programmes by according the state with the National honour. He also said that this would give further boost to the Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development sector.On the occasion, Director Animal Husbandry H.S. Sandha, Director Dairy Development Inderjit Singh and Dr. P.K. Uppal were also present.
