The Punjab Government has decided to put the construction of Guru Ravi Dass Memorial on fast track with the target of dedicating the Memorial to the humanity by the end of 2016.Reviewing the progress of construction in the executive committee meeting of Guru Ravi Dass Memorial Project Mr. Sohan Singh Thandal, Cultural Affairs Minister said that the state government has already acquired 12 acre of land in village Khuralgarh in district Hoshiarpur. The concept paper based on draft of architectural design has been prepared by Architecture Department of the Guru Nanak Dev University. He said that the main attraction of the memorial would be a splendid Minar-e-Bengampura. The other salient features of the memorial would be congregation hall having capacity to accommodate more than 10000 pilgrims, spacious museum, library, food court and modern flats to accommodate more than 500 visitors for stay at night. The Minister said that Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal is personally taking interest into this project and he himself has directed the construction agency to dedicate this memorial to the public till December, 2016. He said that the construction work of the memorial would be commenced on war footing from the month of August this year.The other members of the executive committee who were present in the meeting included Mr. Sarwan Singh Phillaur MLA, Prof. Kirpal Singh Bhadungar, Chairman, Backward Classess Welfare Commissioner, Mr. S.K.Sandhu, Principal Secretary/CM, Mrs. Anjali Bhawra, Principal Secretary, Cultural Affairs Deptt., Mr. Navjot Singh Randhawa, Director, Cultural Affairs,Mr. Jasbir Singh Sabar, Mr. Avtar Singh Issewal and representatives of Architecture Department of Guru Nanak Dev University.
