National Secular Forum demanded from the State Government to immediately opening a Degree College at Majalta Tehsil to facilitate needs of the student community. The activists of National Secular Forum (NSF) Majalta Unit protest against concerned MLA/Minister at Manwal here today. The protesting activists raised slogans against the State Government to immediately opening a Degree College at Majalta.Addressing the protesters here today, Mr.Sukdev Singh President NSF alleged state government to ignore Majalta Tehsil while opening new degree colleges. He said that Majalta located about 48 kilometers away from Udhampur; students of Majalta Tehsil have to either go to Udhampur or Samba for higher studies. Singh said that the opening of a degree college in the Tehsil would benefit for students. “I do not know what the criteria of opening a degree college are. Colleges have been sanctioned in some areas where only two or three higher secondary schools function while as in Majalta belt there are as many as 10 plus two schools,” argued Singh, adding, “population of this belt have been facing step-motherly treatment for so many years.”He claimed that Majalta Tehsil of Udhampur which has the strong case and population of over 47, 600 were denied Degree College.Sukdev Singh warned the state govt. that if these Tehsil will not considered for opening of new degree colleges at the earliest than NSF will launch a strong agitation against the state Govt.Among those who were present in the protest included, Neeraj Dabgotra General Secretary Udhampur District, Upender Singh, Shubam Sharma,Akshay Manyal Tehsil president, Anil Kumar, Aman Sumbria, Raj Kumar, Raj Kesar, Anil Verma, Balwant Singh, Jasvir Sharma, Amit Sharma, Anil Kumar Susheel Sharma and others.
