Nawang Rigzin Jora, Hon'ble Minister, Urban Development & Urban Local Bodies visited various places in Srinagar city especially civil lines viz. Shivpora, Chanapora, Natipora, Karan Nagar, Habba Kadal & adjoining areas. The statement issued to KNS informed that he reviewed extensively the status of city sanitation and cleanliness. He disclosed that during last 24 hours SMC has lifted and disposed of 1909 metric tones of waste material and garbage involving 402 trips of garbage collecting vehicles. He further disclosed that sanitation drive in Srinagar is continuing round the clock since last over 10 days. In these sanitation drive
3000 employees are involved.With regard to removal of the animal carcasses in last fortnight over 1400 large and small dead animals have been collected and scientifically disposed off.In order to provide a cover of disinfectors in vulnerable areas, regular sprinkling of disinfectants through the vehicle mounted tankers and knapsacks, manual spraying has been carried with focus on hospitals & public institutions and domestic habitations.Mr. Jora was accompanied on the tour by Mr. Satish Nehru,Commissioner/ Secretary, Housing & Urban Development Department, Dr. G.N Qasba, Commissioner, SMC, Mr. Itrat Naseem, Executive Engineer (Mech.), Mr. Manzoor Ahmad Tarray, CSO, Municipal Sanitation Officers (Mr. M.A Warsi & Mr. Mushtaq Ahmad) & Mr. Mansoor Ahmad, Chief Animal Officer.
