The Government Assurances Committee of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly today directed Food Civil Services and Consumer Affairs Department (FCS&CA) only to include deserving ration ticket holders in BPL category.The Committee which met here under the Chairmanship of MLA, Nawang Rigzin Jora to discuss the pending Government Assurances given by the Department on the floor of the House from time to time by the FCS&CA Department.The Committee appreciated and complemented the role of the Department in respect of providing rations and other essential commodities to the people of the State besides implementation of NFSA.Legislators, Javid Hassan Beigh, Dina Nath Bhagat, Dr Krishan Lal, Kuldeep Raj and Noor Mohammmad Sheikh attended the meeting and gave their suggestion regarding how to improve the working of the Department in the interest of the people of the state.The Committee stressed on the concerned authorities to take appropriate action on the black marketing of Kerosene Oil and observed that this practice should be stopped permanently. It also stressed on timely upliftment of ration from the stores and proper cleanliness in and around the stores.

The Committee stressed on the concerned authorities to expedite the process of distribution of new ration cards to the people and include genuine beneficiaries who have left out so. It also stressed that the responsibilities in this regard should be fixed and erring officials are ready to face the action.The legislators demanded provision of K.oil, distribution of ration cards  after rectification in BPL ration cards, besides shifting of CA&PD ration store Udhampur to another place besides the members stressed for making provision to include three or more members of the families in the ration card.Commissioner Secretary, FCS&CA, Shafiq Ahmed briefed the Committee about the action taken by the Department on the Government assurances and assured to them that all the public related issues would be redressed on priority basis.Among others, Controller, LMD Vipra Bhal, Director FCS&CA, R A Inqlabi, Director, FCS, Kashmir,  N A Wani, Additional Secretary, Arun Kotwal besides other senior officers of FCS&CA and Assembly Secretariat were also present in the meeting.
