The district administration has intensified its preparedness to tackle any potential flood situation arising from the Ghaggar River. As part of these efforts, Deputy Commissioner Poonamdeep Kaur, along with senior administrative officials, conducted a detailed inspection of the Ghaggar River embankments. While interacting with the media at Makraur Sahib, Deputy Commissioner Poonamdeep Kaur said that the embankments falling within the district had been thoroughly inspected and that the situation was completely under control. She assured the public that there was no cause for concern.

The administration has made comprehensive arrangements, including the availability of sandbags, protective nets, and all other necessary resources to effectively deal with any emergency. The Deputy Commissioner further informed that the embankments had been strengthened and raised by approximately two feet to ensure the safety of nearby areas even if the water level rises.

She also clarified that all vulnerable points, particularly those prone to repeated breaches, had been specially reinforced to minimize any risk. During the inspection, officials stated that the entire stretch of embankments within the district had been thoroughly surveyed to assess the prevailing situation and identify any potential vulnerabilities in advance so that timely preventive measures could be taken.

Local farmers also raised some issues related to the Ghaggar River, and Deputy Commissioner Poonamdeep Kaur assured them that their concerns would be addressed promptly. The district administration has appealed to the public not to panic, as the situation is being closely monitored and all necessary safety measures are in place.

Officials from various departments, village Sarpanches and Panches, and a large number of local residents were present.
