Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Monday said that the state government's public welfare programmes should be implemented more effectively by ensuring greater public participation and creating wider awareness about various development initiatives.

Chairing a meeting of the Task Monitoring System through video conference from the State Civil Secretariat, the Chief Minister reviewed the progress of development works and assessed the functioning of key sectors, including health, education, district administration and security.

Addressing senior officials from various departments and district administrations, Saha said that every district administration and government department should effectively communicate the government's development initiatives and welfare programmes to the people.

He said every district administration and every department should highlight the government's positive initiatives and development works to the common people, and that all departments, including the security administration, district administration, health, and education, should discharge their responsibilities through close coordination and collective efforts.

The Chief Minister said the primary objective of every public welfare programme is the overall development and well-being of the people. He added that officers at every level of the administration should play a more proactive role in raising public awareness by maintaining close contact with the people, and that, in addition to informing citizens about the government's various development and welfare initiatives, coordination among different departments should be further strengthened to ensure the effective implementation of schemes.

Saha directed officials to ensure that the interests and convenience of the people remain the highest priority while implementing development projects across the state. He said no citizen should face unnecessary hardship or inconvenience because of any development work, and instructed the concerned departments to strictly adhere to prescribed norms and ensure that projects are executed in a people-friendly manner.

Reviewing the health sector, Saha sought detailed information on the functioning of district hospitals across the state. He gave specific instructions to ensure the smooth functioning of the paediatric department at Kumarghat Hospital and reviewed the healthcare services being provided there.

He also inquired about the prevalence of malaria and other non-communicable diseases in Dhalai district and stressed the need for sustained public awareness campaigns to prevent them. The Chief Minister further directed officials to ensure that Primary Health Centres across the state continue to function efficiently and provide uninterrupted healthcare services to the people.

During the review of the education sector, Saha assessed the academic environment in schools, the quality of classroom teaching and the implementation of the Mid-Day Meal programme. He emphasised the need to maintain high standards in all these areas and directed the concerned officials to regularly monitor the quality of educational and nutritional services.

The Chief Minister also instructed the concerned departments to ensure the timely disbursement of allowances and financial assistance to beneficiaries under various social security schemes so that eligible people receive government benefits without delay.

Highlighting the importance of tourism, Saha asked all District Magistrates to conduct regular field inspections of tourist destinations and ensure proper cleanliness, maintenance and beautification so that these places remain attractive for visitors.

The meeting was attended by the Chief Minister's Secretary, Pradeep Kumar Chakraborty; secretaries of various departments; the Director of the Information and Cultural Affairs Department; District Magistrates via video conference; and other senior government officials.
