Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday launched AI-powered 'Dust Portal 2.0' - Dust Pollution Control Self-Assessment Web Portal and Mobile Application. Developed by the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC), this state-of-the-art digital platform will monitor dust control measures at construction and demolition sites in real-time with the help of AI, said an official statement.

Through this, project directors will get self-assessment facility, and data-based monitoring and enforcement will be strengthened, it said. Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa, along with senior officials of the department were also present on this occasion.

Dust Portal 2.0 was also demonstrated live during the event, showing how AI can make surveillance systems more efficient, accurate and effective. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Gupta said that the fight against air pollution in Delhi will not only be fought with strict rules, but also with modern and smart administrative systems.

She said Dust Portal 2.0 will bring a significant change in the process of monitoring and managing dust pollution at construction sites. She said that through AI and digital technology, our government is making the compliance process simpler, monitoring more effective, and enforcement more transparent.

This platform will ensure that every construction agency becomes an active partner in building a clean and pollution-free Delhi. In future, work is being done towards making the challan process completely digital so that notices and challans can be issued directly through the portal and any possibility of irregularities or inconvenience can be eliminated, said the statement.

Chief Minister Gupta said that the Delhi government is committed to promoting innovation and technology-based solutions for environmental protection. “The government aims to make Delhi one of the cleanest, greenest and most environmentally responsible capitals in the world,” she said, adding that every technological initiative to strengthen accountability, transparency and public participation will take Delhi closer to this goal.

According to Delhi government data, dust generated from roads, soil and construction activities is a major cause of air pollution in the capital. Its share in total air pollution is around 27 per cent in summer and 15 percent in winter. At the same time, the share of dust in PM-10 emissions is 66 per cent and in PM-2.5 emissions around 38 per cent. Dust Portal 2.0 has been developed to effectively tackle this challenge.

Dust Portal 2.0 incorporates state-of-the-art technologies like GIS mapping, live 360-degree PTZ cameras, PM-10 and PM-2.5 sensors, real-time analytics and AI-based monitoring. The portal will accurately map construction sites and self-assess five key parameters related to dust control, making monitoring fairer, more transparent, and uniform. In addition, it will analyse site-level data by identifying Air Quality Monitoring Stations (AQMS) nearest to construction sites.
