Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday said that the Union government should take initiatives to provide necessary support and cooperation for the development of the Scheduled Castes. The Chief Minister made the demand when the chairman of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes, Kishore Makwana, met him here.

Revanth Reddy has said that the State government was taking a slew of measures to eliminate caste discrimination among students. During the meeting, the CM briefed the SC Commission chairperson about the opportunities provided for the socio-economic and political empowerment of the SC communities.

Implementation of the SC categorisation was also discussed in the meeting. CM Revanth Reddy told the SC Commission chairman that the state government was providing opportunities to the SC community in the state that exceed their population share.

“We have provided opportunities for SCs to hold key positions in politics and other sectors,” a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office quoted him as saying. The Chief Minister told Makwana that to improve the education system, 'Young India Integrated Residential Schools' are being constructed on a sprawling 25-acre site in every Assembly constituency.

These schools will become operational from the next academic year. The establishment of 'Telangana Public Schools' to provide education from Nursery to Class 12, breakfast, lunch and transportation facilities for students and the increase in the number of Telangana Public Schools in the core urban region (CURE) were among the important issues discussed during the meeting.

Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar, Government Advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir, Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju, DGP CV Anand, members of the National SC Commission, and senior state government officials were present. Officials briefed the National SC Commission Chairperson on the measures being taken by the state government for the development of the SC community.

Meanwhile, CM Revanth Reddy congratulated Pravallika Narimalla for winning the gold medal in the women's 4x400m relay at the inaugural Asian U-23 Athletics Championships held in Ordos, China. He stated that Pravallika Narimalla displayed exceptional talent at the Asian U-23 Athletics Championship and won the gold medal in the women's 4x400m relay.

Pravallika studied at the SC Gurukul Degree College in Nalgonda and trained at the Dindi Gurukul Sports Academy. The Chief Minister praised Pravallika for excelling on the international stage and serving as an inspiration to all young athletes. Pravallika, daughter of a mason, proved that perseverance and dedication makes everything possible.
