Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore, today visited Yatra Transit Camp Manigam and Base Camp Baltal to assess the arrangements and review the progress of ongoing preparatory works being undertaken for smooth conduct of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY)-2026.

At Transit Camp Manigam, the DC inspected various facilities being developed for pilgrims, including accommodation areas, langar sites, sanitation infrastructure, water supply arrangements, electricity facilities and registration-related infrastructure.

He also reviewed the functioning and preparedness of RFID and other service counters proposed for the camp. During the inspection, officers briefed the DC about the status of ongoing works and the arrangements being put in place to facilitate the expected influx of pilgrims.

The DC stressed the need for completing the finishing works before the commencement of the Yatra and directed the concerned departments to work in close coordination to ensure seamless services for devotees. Reviewing sanitation arrangements, he emphasized maintaining cleanliness across the camp premises and instructed the concerned agencies to ensure round-the-clock sanitation services.

He also directed for proper signages at key locations, particularly around accommodation areas, langars and toilet facilities, to assist pilgrims in easy navigation. The DC further reviewed arrangements related to drinking water supply, power availability and lighting across the transit camp.

He instructed the concerned departments to ensure uninterrupted essential services and adequate illumination of all public utility areas. Later, the DC visited Base Camp Baltal, where he inspected the works and reviewed facilities being established for pilgrims.

He took stock of arrangements at RFID and registration counters, queue management systems, help desks and other public service points. During the visit, he assessed preparedness related to traffic management, parking facilities, crowd regulation measures and overall camp infrastructure.

He directed the concerned agencies to ensure proper deployment of manpower, timely completion of developmental works and smooth movement of pilgrims and vehicles during the Yatra period. The DC also reviewed arrangements for healthcare services, emergency response, fire safety and disaster preparedness at the base camp.

He stressed the importance of maintaining a high level of readiness and ensuring prompt response mechanisms for the safety and convenience of pilgrims. The DC reiterated that the district administration is committed to providing a safe, comfortable and hassle-free experience to devotees undertaking the sacred pilgrimage.
