The Health Department, U.T. Chandigarh today continued its Intensified Integrated Health Camp at the Community Centre, Manimajra, as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen early disease detection, preventive healthcare, and community outreach among vulnerable and high-risk populations. The campaign, inaugurated yesterday by Dr. Sadbhavna Pandit, Officiating Director Health & Family Welfare-cum-Mission Director, NHM, U.T. Chandigarh, is a first-of-its-kind initiative that converges multiple national health programmes on a single platform.
The objective is to ensure comprehensive screening, diagnosis, counselling, referral, and treatment linkages while bringing essential healthcare services closer to the community. The camp provided free screening services for Tuberculosis (TB), HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis B & C, Diabetes, Hypertension, Syphilis, and other health conditions.
A specially equipped NTEP Mobile Diagnostic Van was deployed at the venue to facilitate on-the-spot investigations, awareness generation, counselling, and diagnostic services. The area's elected Councillor actively participated in the campaign and appealed to residents to utilize the free healthcare services and support the collective mission of making Chandigarh TB-free through greater awareness, early testing, and community participation.
A major focus of the campaign remained the active identification of tuberculosis cases through advanced diagnostic technologies. Portable digital chest X-ray facilities enabled rapid screening of individuals with symptoms suggestive of TB, while Cartridge-Based Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (CBNAAT) technology was used for confirmatory testing wherever required. Individuals diagnosed with TB were immediately linked to free treatment and support services under the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP), ensuring timely initiation of care.
Alongside diagnostic services, healthcare teams conducted awareness and counselling sessions on communicable and non-communicable diseases. Beneficiaries were sensitized about the importance of early diagnosis, treatment adherence, proper nutrition, healthy lifestyle practices, and regular health check-ups. Information regarding various government health schemes and available support services was also disseminated among the participants.
