Australia today recognized the increasing importance of Punjab in Indo-Australian bilateral relations as India-Australia Strategic Alliance (I.A.S.A.)  today designated Punjab Industry Minister Mr. Madan Mohan Mittal as Ambassador to promote better Trade, Industrial, Cultural ties between Punjab and Australia.Dr. Jagvinder Singh Virk, Chairman, India-Australia Strategic Alliance (I.A.S.A.) today called on Industry Minister Mr. Madan Mohan Mittal.  In a meeting held here at Udyog Bhawan the Minister exchanged views with the visiting dignitary about promoting skill development, entrepreneurship, bilateral co-operation in Industry, Commerce, Dairy farming, Food processing and Mining.

Speaking on the occasion the Minister emphasized increasing trade and industrial relations between Punjab and Australian Governments. He said that the Punjab Govt. is fully committed to Encourage Business, Cultural and Educational exchanges with Australia. Also Briefing the dignitary about the transparency brought about by the Govt. of Punjab in its functioning the Hon'ble Minister said that the Govt. has started online single room service for every Deptt. for which a Nodal Officer is appointed with the powers of Director, Who is responsible for delivering the services.

On this occasion Dr. Virk said that by year 2020 about 60% of the skilled labour force in Australia would be Indian and India has a large number of younger population, so India cannot be ignored from skill development point of view. In the meeting Rajinder Singh Marwaha, Director, Trade Board, Punjab Govt. (Excise & Taxation),  Kamal preet Khaira Vice President I.A.S.A., Mr. Jagjit Singh Joint Director Technical Education and  Manish Arora, General Secretary Border Zone Trade Industry Association were also present.
