Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse today flagged off a rally organized under the “Tobacco-Free Youth Campaign 3.0” from the DC Office Kupwara to SDH Kupwara. The event was organized by the Department of Health and witnessed enthusiastic participation from Asha workers, students, and health officials.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that the “Tobacco-Free Youth Campaign 3.0” is an annual initiative aimed at spreading awareness about the ill effects of tobacco consumption, especially among students and the youth. 

He added that such awareness activities are crucial to protect society from the harmful consequences of tobacco use. He emphasized that special focus is being given to tobacco-free educational institutions, and the administration has initiated steps to declare Tobacco-Free Panchayats in the near future. 

Panchayats fulfilling the prescribed criteria will be formally recognized through Gram Sabhas, he added. The rally concluded successfully with widespread public participation and positive response. Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Masrat Wani, MS. SDH Kupwara, Dy CMO, and other health officers were also present on the occasion.
