The Srinagar Municipal Employees Union felicitated Minister for Urban Development and Urban Local Bodies  Nawang Rigzin Jora at a function held here today.The Minister was accompanied by Commissioner Secretary Housing & Urban Development Mr. Satish Nehru, Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Dr. G. N. Qasba besides other senior officers of the Corporation.Addressing the employees, Jora said that he is happy to have fulfilled the long pending demands of the employees of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation including regularization of 391 consolidated workers. He said that over 200 promotions under DPC have been done and more promotions are expected soon.Speaking on the occasion Jora said that another important demand of re-organization of Srinagar Municipal Corporation will be take up on priority to cope up the future challenges and meet the requirements of the future city development.

The Minister appreciated role of the corporation for making Srinagar City green and clean. He also appreciated the efforts of Commissioner Secretary Housing & Urban Development and Commissioner SMC for their efforts to address the issues faced by the department.Speaking on the occasion Dr. Qasba thanked the Minister for showing his interest in addressing the problems and issues of the employees and other long pending departmental issues.Earlier on the occasion, President Municipal Employees Union Mr. Nazir Ahmed Khan and Chairman Workers Union Mr. Mehrajudin Bhuja expressed their gratitude to the Minister for having addressed their long pending demands.Joint Commissioner Mr. B. A. Khan also spoke on the occasion and enumerated various achievements of the department. (KNS)
