Jana Small Finance Bank Ltd. took a significant step towards environmental sustainability by handing over Dry Leaf Composters (DLCs) to Patiala Foundation in a formal ceremony today. This initiative aligns with the bank’s commitment to ecological conservation and community welfare.
The composters, an innovative initiative by Patiala Foundation, will aid in converting dry leaves into organic manure, reducing waste accumulation, and promoting sustainable waste management practices.
This collaboration marks a major step towards encouraging environmentally responsible behavior and fostering a greener future. A total of 100 household DLCs and 10 community DLCs were handed over by the bank to the foundation.
These composters will be dedicated to the community and installed free of cost by Patiala Foundation under Project PRITHVI. Speaking at the event, Mr. Ravee Singh Ahluwalia, CEO of Patiala Foundation, emphasized the urgent need to address climate change in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). He stated:
“Environmental sustainability is not just a choice but a necessity. By adopting eco-friendly solutions like composting, we can significantly reduce our carbon footprint and contribute to a healthier planet.
Collective efforts at the grassroots level will play a crucial role in combating climate change and ensuring a sustainable future for generations to come.” The event was graced by Mr. N.P. Sharma, Chief Engineer, PWD Patiala Division and Mr. G.S. Sikand PPS, DSP Samana, as SPECIAL INVITEES.
