The Immunization Department of Chandigarh held a significant meeting today with members of the Kinnars (Transgender) community at the Model Immunization Centre GMSH-16. Under the chairmanship of Dr. Suman Singh, Director Health Services (DHS). The primary focus of the meeting was to seek the community's support in promoting vaccination among children and pregnant women in UT Chandigarh.
Dr. Suman Singh commenced the meeting by highlighting the current status of various immunization services provided by the Health Department in Chandigarh. She emphasized the crucial role the Kinnars community can play in encouraging vaccination during events like marriages and the birth of newborns, where they traditionally visit households to offer blessings.
Dr. Manjeet Singh, District Immunization Officer (DIO), delivered a detailed presentation on the immunization program's current scenario, communication strategies, vaccine cold chain management, and the program's achievements.
He underscored the importance of adhering to the National Immunization Schedule and how the Kinnars community can effectively motivate families for timely vaccination of children. Dr. Suman Singh also discussed the Ayushman Card's significance, urging the community to spread awareness about this vital healthcare facility.
This initiative marks the second meeting between the Immunization Department and the Kinnars community, with the first meeting held on April 25, 2024, at AAM Sector-37. Mahant Ms. Sonakshi expressed her appreciation for the department's efforts and accomplishments in the field of immunization.
She assured full support from the Kinnars community and proposed the organization of special vaccination camps every Wednesday in juggies, slums, and periurban areas to mobilize beneficiaries.

चंडीगढ़ के टीकाकरण विभाग ने आज मॉडल टीकाकरण केंद्र जीएमएसएच-16 में किन्नर (ट्रांसजेंडर) समुदाय के सदस्यों के साथ एक महत्वपूर्ण बैठक की। इसकी अध्यक्षता स्वास्थ्य सेवाएं निदेशक (डीएचएस) डॉ. सुमन सिंह ने की। बैठक का मुख्य उद्देश्य यूटी चंडीगढ़ में बच्चों और गर्भवती महिलाओं के बीच टीकाकरण को बढ़ावा देने में समुदाय का समर्थन प्राप्त करना था।
डॉ. सुमन सिंह ने चंडीगढ़ में स्वास्थ्य विभाग द्वारा प्रदान की जाने वाली विभिन्न टीकाकरण सेवाओं की वर्तमान स्थिति पर प्रकाश डालते हुए बैठक की शुरुआत की। उन्होंने इस बात पर जोर दिया कि विवाह और नवजात शिशुओं के जन्म जैसे आयोजनों के दौरान टीकाकरण को प्रोत्साहित करने में किन्नर समुदाय महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभा सकता है, जहां वे पारंपरिक रूप से आशीर्वाद देने के लिए घरों में जाते हैं।
जिला टीकाकरण अधिकारी (डीआईओ) डॉ. मनजीत सिंह ने टीकाकरण कार्यक्रम के वर्तमान परिदृश्य, संचार रणनीतियों, वैक्सीन कोल्ड चेन प्रबंधन और कार्यक्रम की उपलब्धियों पर विस्तृत प्रस्तुति दी। उन्होंने राष्ट्रीय टीकाकरण कार्यक्रम का पालन करने के महत्व को रेखांकित किया और बताया कि कैसे किन्नर समुदाय बच्चों के समय पर टीकाकरण के लिए परिवारों को प्रभावी ढंग से प्रेरित कर सकता है।
डॉ. सुमन सिंह ने आयुष्मान कार्ड के महत्व पर भी चर्चा की और समुदाय से इस महत्वपूर्ण स्वास्थ्य सुविधा के बारे में जागरूकता फैलाने का आग्रह किया। यह पहल टीकाकरण विभाग और किन्नर समुदाय के बीच दूसरी बैठक है, जिसकी पहली बैठक 25 अप्रैल, 2024 को एएएम सेक्टर-37 में आयोजित की गई थी।
महंत सुश्री सोनाक्षी ने टीकाकरण के क्षेत्र में विभाग के प्रयासों और उपलब्धियों की सराहना की। उन्होंने किन्नर समुदाय से पूर्ण समर्थन का आश्वासन दिया और लाभार्थियों को जुटाने के लिए हर बुधवार को झुग्गियों, मलिन बस्तियों और उपनगरीय क्षेत्रों में विशेष टीकाकरण शिविर आयोजित करने का प्रस्ताव रखा।
