Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal today appealed to the voters of ‘guru ki nagri’ as well as those of this parliamentary constituency to support the SAD which had transformed their city into a tourism hub and promised restart of trade with Pakistan and a special industrial policy for the border belt once the party formed the government in the State.

The SAD president was speaking to people during the course of a historic road show in favour of party candidate Anil Joshi which broke all previous records. Thousands of people came out on the streets to meet and greet the SAD president and even climbed atop his truck to garland him besides showering him with rose petals and marigold flowers.

Mr Sukhbir Badal said “our heart beats for ‘guru ki nagri’. That is why we paid homage to the city by creating the Virsati Marg which has led to the development of the inner city as well as given a boost to tourism activities. We also developed the plaza around Sri Darbar Sahib and beautified Durgiana Mandir and Ram Teerath.

Tourist projects like Apna Pind and Partition Museum also came up in Amritsar during our government. Once elected to power we are committed to investing Rs 1,500 crore to give the entire walled city a heritage look. We will also seek to reopen the international border with Pakistan to give a boost to trade and are committed to forming a special industrial policy for the border belt”.

Urging the people to support the SAD which was the only party which had taken the city and the border area to new heights of development, Mr Badal said “see all around you. Amritsar has become a victim of political apathy.

Neither the Congress party government or the AAP government have done anything for the holy city”.The party president also listened to the grievances of the city residents who came up with complaints of law and order, drugs, unemployment, poor governance and pathetic conditions of civic amenities.

He appealed to them to support the SAD and ensure a handsome victory for Mr Anil Joshi who was known as a ‘development man’ in the city.Senior leader Bikram Singh Majithia and the senior leadership of the party accompanied the SAD president during the massive road show.
