The 77th Himachal Day was celebrated with gaiety and fervour in the State on Monday. Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla unfurled the Tricolour and took the salute of an impressive march past at the State-level Himachal Day function held on the historic Ridge, Shimla. The march past was led by Parade Commander, IPS Abhishek in which contingents of State Police, Home Guards, and Bharat Scouts & Guides and NCC cadets also participated.
Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Chief Minister was also present on the occasion. The Governor while congratulating the people of the State on the auspicious occasion of Himachal Day highlighted the rich heritage and natural splendour that defines this hill state. Emphasizing the role of its honest and hardworking people, he commended their resilience in overcoming geographical and economic challenges to drive rapid development as we see today.
He praised the peaceful atmosphere and social harmony as hallmarks that set Himachal Pradesh apart. Recognizing the state's journey from modest beginnings to becoming a beacon of hill development, the Governor credited the unwavering dedication to its citizens. Looking ahead, he expressed confidence that the same spirit of determination will propel the state towards continued progress and prosperity.
Coming in existence on April 15, 1948 with the merger of 30 small hill princely hill states, our rich culture, high traditions and natural beauty are the distinctive identity of Dev Bhoomi, he said. The hard-working people contributed a lot in the development of the State since its formation, said the Governor.
“This small hill state started its journey with meagre resources and today the State has emerged as the forerunner of hill development setting an example for other states to follow. The credit goes to the honest people, their passion and determination towards achieving the goals set. I hope that this zeal continues in future as well to keep the pace of development going”, said Shukla.
As Youth were the real wealth of a nation, it becomes our moral duty to encourage and empower them to channelize their energy towards Nation building as this will not only save them falling prey to drugs but will also encourage others to join the crusade against this social evil. We need to rope-in all the sections of society to join hands against drug abuse and completely uproot this evil from within the society.
The Governor expressed his gratitude to those great sons of the state who have contributed for the development of Himachal Pradesh. He also paid tribute to those great freedom fighters of the State who were the real heroes in paving the way in making Himachal a self-reliant state. He also paid homage to the martyrs who made supreme sacrifices for the cause of the nation.
The Governor also appealed to all the citizens to exercise their right to franchise and to ensure their cent percent participation in the Utsav of Democracy. A colourful cultural programme was also presented on the occasion.
Health Minister Dr.(Col) Dhani Ram Shandil, Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi, Lady Governor Janaki Shukla, Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena, Director General of Police Sanjay Kundu, Principal Secretaries, Secretaries and senior officers of the State Government and other prominent people were also present on the occasion.

राज्यपाल ने की शिमला में राज्य स्तरीय समारोह की अध्यक्षता

प्रदेश में 77वां हिमाचल दिवस आज हर्षाल्लास व उत्साह के साथ मनाया गया। राज्यपाल शिव प्रताप शुक्ल ने शिमला के ऐतिहासिक रिज मैदान में राज्य स्तरीय हिमाचल दिवस समारोह की अध्यक्षता की तथा राष्ट्रीय ध्वज फहराया और मार्च पास्ट की सलामी ली। इस अवसर पर परेड कमांडर, आईपीएस अभिषेक के नेतृत्व में राज्य पुलिस, होमगार्ड, भारत स्काउट्स एवं गाइड्स तथा एनसीसी कैडेटों की टुकड़ियों द्वारा भव्य मार्च पास्ट प्रस्तुत किया गया। मुख्यमंत्री ठाकुर सुखविंदर सिंह सुक्खू भी इस अवसर पर उपस्थित थे।
प्रदेशवासियों को हिमाचल दिवस की बधाई देते हुए राज्यपाल ने कहा कि यह खूबसूरत राज्य 15 अप्रैल, 1948 को 30 छोटी-बड़ी पहाड़ी रियासतों के विलय के साथ अस्तित्व में आया था। राज्य की समृद्ध संस्कृति, उच्च परम्पराएं और असीम प्राकृतिक सौंदर्य, देवभूमि की विशिष्ट पहचान है। राज्य की वास्तविक शक्ति यहां के ईमानदार, कर्मठ और विकासशील लोग हैं तथा यहां शांतिपूर्ण वातावरण व सामाजिक सौहार्द है, जो इस पहाड़ी राज्य को दूसरों से अलग बनाता है।
राज्यपाल ने प्रसन्नता व्यक्त करते हुए कहा कि राज्य के अस्तित्व में आने के बाद इस छोटे से पहाड़ी प्रदेश ने तेजी से विकास का सफर तय किया। कठिन भौगोलिक परिस्थितियां, दुर्गम क्षेत्र और अन्य जटिलताएं भी यहां के मेहनतकश लोगों के साहस को कम नहीं कर पाईं। प्रदेशवासियों ने राज्य को उन ऊंचाइयों तक पहुंचाया जो दूसरों के लिए एक उदाहरण है।
उन्होंने कहा कि सीमित संसाधनों से विकास के सफर की शुरुआत करने के बाद आज हिमाचल देश भर में पहाड़ी राज्यों के विकास का आदर्श प्रस्तुत कर रहा है। इसका श्रेय यहां के ईमानदार लोगों को जाता है जिन्होंने अपनी निष्ठा और लग्न से प्रदेश को विकास के इस आयाम तक पहुंचाया है। उन्होंने विश्वास जताया कि प्रदेशवासी भविष्य में भी इसी उत्साह के साथ राज्य को प्रगति के पथ पर अग्रसर रखने में सदैव प्रयासरत रहेंगे।
श्री शुक्ल ने कहा कि युवा ही राष्ट्र की असली संपत्ति हैं, जो देश को विकास के पथ पर आगे बढ़ा सकते हैं। उन्होंने युवाओं मेें बढ़ते नशे पर चिंता व्यक्त करते हुए कहा कि यह स्थिति समाज के लिए एक गंभीर खतरा है। इस सामाजिक बुराई के खिलाफ हमें मिलकर काम करना चाहिए। इसके लिए, शिक्षण संस्थान, समाज के सभी वर्ग और युवाओें को जोड़कर एक प्रभावी संदेश देना होगा ताकि उनकी ऊर्जा व सामर्थ्य का राष्ट्र निर्माण में सदुपयोग हो सके।
उन्होंने प्रदेशवासियों से आग्रह किया कि वे इस सामाजिक बुराई के खिलाफ मजबूती से पहल करें और प्रदेश को और सशक्त बनाने में योगदान दें। इस अवसर पर, राज्यपाल ने प्रदेश के उन महान सपूतों के प्रति आभार व्यक्त किया जिन्होंने हिमाचल प्रदेश के विकास में योगदान दिया है। उन्होंने राज्य के महान स्वतंत्रता सेनानियों और राष्ट्र के लिए सर्वाेच्च बलिदान देने वाले शहीदों को भी श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित की।
श्री शुक्ल ने सभी नागरिकों से आगामी चुनाव में अपनी भागीदारी सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अपने मताधिकार का प्रयोग करने की अपील भी की। उन्होंने विश्वास जताया कि वे भारत के संविधान के आदर्शों और मूल्यों को मजबूत करने के लिए अपने मताधिकार का प्रयोग करेंगे। इस अवसर पर रंगारंग सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रम प्रस्तुत किया गया।
स्वास्थ्य मंत्री (कर्नल) धनी राम शांडिल, राजस्व मंत्री जगत सिंह नेगी, लेडी गवर्नर जानकी शुक्ल, मुख्य सचिव प्रबोध सक्सेना, पुलिस महानिदेशक संजय कुण्डू, प्रधान सचिव, सचिव सहित प्रदेश सरकार के वरिष्ठ अधिकारी तथा अन्य गणमान्य व्यक्ति भी इस अवसर पर उपस्थित थे।
