Karnail Singh Peer Mohammad, Director of the International Sikh Sports Council, is taking proactive measures to promote traditional Sikh participation in hockey, particularly in preparation for the upcoming World Keshdhari Hockey Tournament 2024, slated for November in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Mohali.

During a recent meeting at the Pvt. Press Club in Rajbagh, Srinagar, Mr. Peer Mohammad engaged with Chairman J&K Hockey Academy, Jenab Raja Ghulam Nabi Wani, emphasizing that only Sikh players maintaining their traditional appearance uncut hair and beards will be eligible to participate in the tournament.

He underscored how such tournaments serve to connect players with their heritage beyond the scope of sports. Following Mr. Peer Mohammad's advocacy, Chairman Jenab Raja Ghulam Nabi Wani ensured the participation of Gursikh players from Kashmir in the upcoming tournament at the International Hockey Stadium in Mohali.

These players will depart from Srinagar to Mohali, under the guidance of Mr. Amarjeet Singh, Ex-hockey player, veteran hockey club and his technical team. Mr. Wani also assured that the J&K Sports Council will provide support in organizing this significant tournament.

The International Sikh Sports Council expresses gratitude for the support and participation, eagerly anticipating the success and cultural celebration of the World Kesadhari Hockey Tournament 2024. Teams from various countries will also be participating in this prestigious international-level event.
