Indian Institute of Architects (IIA), Punjab Chapter in association with Chitkara School of Planning and Architecture, Chitkara University, Punjab organized ‘SMASH-II’, an Annual One-Day Indoor Sports tournament of Badminton, Table tennis and Chess. Chitkara University Sports Board played a key role in supporting and organizing the tournament, ensuring it had all the necessary facilities and infrastructure for a seamless and efficient execution.

75 Architects from across Punjab participated in different indoor games across the Day along-with few faculty members of CSPA. The event saw high demonstration of sportsman spirit, zeal and vigor for the games. The architecture professionals from all age groups actively participated in the games. 

The chief guest for the event was Ar. Pritpal Singh Ahluwalia (Chairman- IIA Punjab Chapter) other esteemed guest present on the occasion included Dinesh C Bhagat (Vice Chairman-IIA Punjab Chapter), Rajan Tangri (Jt Hon Secretary), Ar Niranjan Kumar (Convener Sports Committee), Ar. Rajnish Walia (Architects Welfare Committee), Ar Sanjay Kumar (Event convener IIA), Ar. Rajinder Sandhu (Chairman IIA Patiala), Ar Nagendra Narayan (Chairman IIA Hoshiarpur Kapurthala), Ar Rajan Tangri (General secretary) and Ar Balbir Bagga (Chairman IIA Ludhiana).

The tournament is an annual event and has participation from a confluence of Architects from across Punjab. The Chairman IIA Punjab - Ar Pritpal Singh Ahluwalia appreciated the efforts of Ar. Sumit Wadhera, Dean of Chitkara School of Planning and Architecture in hosting the event and for its successful conduct. He also appreciated the facilities, infrastructure, arrangements and hospitality of Chitkara University and the successful execution of the tournament by the Chitkara School of Planning and Architecture, University Sports Board and Chitkara University as a whole. 

He also expressed his wish to continue the association of IIA Punjab Chapter with Chitkara University and host many such events on a regular basis together. At the occasion, Dr. Madhu Chitkara, Pro Chancellor, Chitkara University congratulated the winners and lauded the efforts of the CSPA Department volunteers, Chitkara Sports Board and organising committee.

The Results for the various tournaments are as under: –

In Table Tennis Men's Single Atul Dutta won the First Position followed by Ashwin on the Second spot. In Women Single category Raminder won the First Prize followed by Jasmeet Kaur in the Second spot.

In Badminton (Mens Above 40 years) Doubles  Niranjan & Rajnish teamed up to win the First Position followed by Sanjay & Ashwini on the Second spot. Similarly in Badminton (Mens Below 40 years) Doubles Competition Shiv & Anant won the First Position followed by Preetpaul & Komal Preet on the Second spot.

In Badminton Mixed Doubles Competition Preetpaul & Neelam won the First Position followed by Davinder Pal Singh & Raminder Kaur in the Second Position. In Badminton SINGLES Men's Above 35 years category Anant won the First Position followed by Shiv in the Second Position. 

Similarly in Men's Singles above 40 years Preetpaul won the First Position followed by Pardeep on the Second Position. In the age category above 45 years Rajnish won the First Position followed by Ashwin on the Second Position. In the Chess competition Manav was the winner of the tournament and Nagendra Narian was on the second spot.
