Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini, said that both his office and official residence remain open to the public round the clock and that his government would leave no stone unturned in safeguarding people's rights and promoting social welfare through policy initiatives as well as individual interventions. The Chief Minister was addressing the Saini Mahasammelan organised by the Saini Samaj Welfare Committee in Rajpura, Punjab on Friday.
Upon his arrival, the Chief Minister was accorded a grand welcome by the organisers. He also honoured several social workers with shawls in recognition of their contribution to society.
The Chief Minister said he feels happy to be present at the massive gathering of the Saini community on the historic, sacred and valiant land of Rajpura. Congratulating the office-bearers of the Welfare Committee for successfully organising the event, he said he was deeply moved by the trust, affection and unity displayed by the community.
Strong Advocacy for the Rights of the Community
The Chief Minister called upon members of society to work collectively for strengthening both society and the nation, saying that only through united efforts could Punjab become more prosperous and developed. He assured the gathering that the rights and interests of the community would be strongly represented and advocated at every appropriate forum.
He said the Saini community should no longer remain merely a silent spectator or supporter but should emerge as a leading and decisive force in politics. Its participation, he said, should be strong and influential from Panchayats to State Assemblies and Parliament.
AAP Misled the People of Punjab Through False Promises-CM
Launching a sharp attack on the Aam Aadmi Party, the Chief Minister alleged that during the last elections, the party misled the people of Punjab by making numerous promises that were never fulfilled. He said many people in the state now feel deceived and betrayed.
Referring to compensation announced during flood-related distress, he said the Punjab Chief Minister had claimed of providing Rs. 20,000 to affected farmers, while AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal had claimed of providing Rs. 50,000 elsewhere.
He alleged that such contradictory promises exposed the party’s double standards. Describing the Punjab government as corrupt, he further alleged that it was engaged in exploitation rather than serving the people.
Prime Minister Brought the Poor into the Mainstream of Development
The Chief Minister said that since the Prime Minister has assumed office, several transformative policies have been introduced to ensure that even the poorest citizens become active participants in the country’s development journey. Highlighting Haryana Government’s initiatives to honour Sikh heritage, he said the state had celebrated the 350th martyrdom anniversary of ‘Hind di Chadar’ Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji on a grand scale and had undertaken several projects in his memory.
These include the establishment of a Chair at Sirsa University, naming a chowk in Faridabad after him, development of an approach road to Dhamtan Sahib, and the naming of a forest and gateway in Yamunanagar and a Polytechnic institution in Ambala in his honour.
Government Jobs for Families Affected by the 1984 Riots
The Chief Minister said an agricultural college in the name of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji was being established at Chhachhrauli and work on the project would begin soon. He added that the Prime Minister had also released a commemorative coin and postage stamp dedicated to the Guru’s teachings during a state-level function held in Kurukshetra.
He said that apart from providing government jobs to eligible members of families affected by the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, Haryana was also providing free dialysis treatment in government hospitals across the state. Highlighting the achievements of the BJP government, he said that out of the 217 Sankalp made in the party’s election manifesto, 63 had already been fulfilled while work on 157 others was progressing rapidly.
The Chief Minister said Haryana is procuring all crops at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) and had also brought vegetables, potatoes and other produce under the Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana to ensure remunerative prices for farmers. He said the government is providing LPG cylinders at Rs.500, extending a subsidy of Rs.8,000 to farmers adopting crop diversification, and implementing a scheme to provide financial assistance of Rs.2,100 to women.
Senior citizens, persons with disabilities and widows were receiving pensions regularly, while beneficiaries of schemes such as the Deendayal Lado Lakshmi Yojana were receiving assistance every month. He said these benefits were being transferred directly into beneficiaries’ accounts at the click of a button on the 10th day of every month.
Mohali–Rajpura Rail Bypass Project approved
The Chief Minister said welfare-oriented policies on the lines of Haryana would also be implemented in Punjab. He said the Prime Minister had initiated projects worth Rs. 7,500 crore in Punjab that would create employment opportunities for more than 64,000 youth.
He further said that modern infrastructure facilities worth Rs. 1,387 crore would also be developed. In addition, approval had been granted for the construction of the Mohali–Rajpura Rail Bypass at a cost of around Rs. 1,400 crore.
He added that determined efforts would also be made to eliminate the menace of drugs and create employment opportunities for the youth. The Chief Minister said Rajpura occupies an important place in the region’s history and represents a vibrant centre of cultural heritage and spiritual consciousness.
He described the area as a vital gateway connecting the progress of Punjab, Haryana and the rest of the country. He said this land had produced hardworking farmers, brave soldiers and selfless social workers who had contributed immensely to nation-building.
Paying tribute to social reformers Jyotiba Phule and Savitribai Phule, he said they were among the nation’s most precious gems and had carried out revolutionary work in the field of women’s education and the upliftment of weaker sections. He said their contributions had enabled society to live with dignity and self-respect.
The Chief Minister also paid tribute to Sant Lakhmidas, Gulab Saini, the commander of the Ballabhgarh princely state, hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand and Padma Shri Nek Chand Saini, the creator of Chandigarh’s iconic Rock Garden. He said these distinguished personalities had brought pride and recognition to the community across the country and the world.
BJP Ensured Greater Representation for OBC Communities
The Chief Minister said that it was under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi that the National Commission for Backward Classes was granted constitutional status, describing it as a historic and transformative step. He also highlighted the provision of 27 per cent reservation for OBCs in medical and higher educational institutions, which, he said, had opened doors of opportunity for generations of young people from backward communities.
He said the increasing presence of OBC students in universities, engineering institutions and medical colleges across the country reflected the positive impact of these measures. The Chief Minister further said that, for the first time in the history of the Bharatiya Janata Party, senior Punjab OBC leader Sardar Iqbal Singh Lalpura had been inducted into the party’s highest policy-making body, the BJP Parliamentary. He said that both the Central Government and BJP governments across the country were ensuring adequate representation and due respect for OBC communities.
