During his visit to the Jallianwala Bagh  at Amritsar today, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu paid tributes on behalf of the people of the state to the countless fighters who sacrificed their lives for the country's freedom.

The Chief Minister said that the heart-wrenching memories of the then British government's brutal action of indiscriminate firing on thousands of people, including women and children who were protesting peacefully against the Rowlatt Act on the day of  Baisakhi festival still haunts the families of those killed in the firing.

He said that the young generation should study the history of the freedom s and remember such inhumane acts and cruelty inflicted by the Britishers on the freedom fighters. On this occasion, the Chief Minister made a detailed inspection of every bullet pockmark on the walls of the Jallianwala Bagh.
