Government Degree College Kathua, in collaboration with the District Social Welfare Office, organized a Debate Competition on the theme of ’Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’ in the Smart Class Room Hall of the College.

The College Principal Prof. Seema Mir was the chief guest. Tehsil Social Welfare Officer Vishav Bandhu Sharma along with field functionaries of Mission Shakti also attended the program. The event, convened by Professor Shivani Kotwal, started with the lighting of the lamp and Saraswati Vandana.

A total of 10 students participated in the debate competition.  First position was secured by Vishal Gupta, while 2nd and 3rd positions were secured by Alisha Malhotra and Shivani, respectively. Consolation prizes were also distributed to all the participants.

The Chief Guest threw light on Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan initiated by the Government of India. She also spoke about the repercussion of indulging in activities like drug consumption which ultimately leads to destruction. 

She also impressed upon the youth to utilise energy in positive things and contributed to the development of the nation.The event ended with the vote of thanks by Tehsil Social Welfare Officer, Kathua Vishav Bandhu Sharma.
