Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rajesh Sharma today chaired the weekly Block Diwas programme at Pretha in Basohli block, providing a platform for public interaction and on-the-spot grievance redressal.

A large number of people, including former PRI representatives and prominent citizens, raised issues related to staff shortages, pending payments for restoration works, upgradation of health and education infrastructure, road repair, compensation for flood-damaged houses and administrative status for Pretha.

Responding to the demands, the Deputy Commissioner assured that all genuine issues would be taken up on priority with the departments concerned and that pending demands would be projected before higher authorities. He informed that genuine cases of flood-damaged houses had already been approved for financial assistance.

The Deputy Commissioner urged the people to continue supporting the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan and appealed to people to avail the benefits of the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. During the programme, officers of different departments briefed participants about flagship government schemes, including financial assistance under the Mission YUVA Scheme and other beneficiary-oriented welfare programmes.

Among those present were ADC Basohli Pankaj Bagotra and CPO Ranjeet Thakur, besides district and sectoral officers, PRI representatives and a large number of local residents.
