Deputy Commissioner Surabhi Malik today reviewed the arrangements for the district-level Independence Day celebrations event in which Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains will hoist the national flag on August 15 at Guru Nanak Stadium, here.

Chairing a meeting at Guru Nanak Stadium today, the Deputy Commissioner held detailed deliberations on hoisting of tricolour, security, traffic, parking arrangements, cultural programs, uninterrupted power supply, proper sanitation, medical facilities, etc with heads of various departments.

She also fixed the duties of senior officers to supervise the preparations closely to ensure this national event was celebrated with full enthusiasm and in a befitting manner.Malik said that a committee would decide the cultural items to be performed by around 2000 students of various schools/ colleges of the district. 

She also directed the Municipal Corporation Ludhiana to ensure proper cleanliness around the venue of the function, sprinkle water on roads leading to the stadium and ensure temporary urinal and mobile toilets for participants during the event.

She also asked Commissionerate Police to make necessary arrangements for maintaining law and order during the event.She informed that the final dress rehearsal would be held on August 13 (Sunday) and directed all officials to ensure that they perform best.
