Addressing the people of Jalandhar, Aam Aadmi Party's national convenor Arvind Kejriwal said that the AAP government is the first government in Punjab which has taken so many big decisions and done so much work in just one year.
He said that now the youth of Punjab are getting jobs. Temporary employees are being regularised. Electricity bills of common people are zero. Farmers are being compensated for their crop losses on time.
The compensation amount for the loss of crops has also increased and the families of the martyrs are now getting one crore ex gratia. All this has been made possible by an honest government in Punjab.
On Saturday, AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had reached Jalandhar to campaign in favor of Sushil Kumar Rinku, the Aam Aadmi Party's candidate for the Jalandhar bypoll.
Both the leaders held a road show in various areas of Jalandhar; Central, West, North and Jalandhar Cantt and appealed to the people to vote for the AAP candidate.Addressing the people, Arvind Kejriwal said that when we announced to make 300 units of electricity free per month, the opposition parties used to question us saying that it is not possible.
Punjab doesn't have that much money. But our government has proved that everything is possible if the intention is clear and the chief minister is honest. We made electricity free and the revenue of the government is also increasing because there is no dearth of money in Punjab.
Earlier, the money from the government treasury used to go into the pockets of the corrupt and the mafia. Now the same money is being used to give facilities to the common people of the state.
He said that many people came and told us that only three months have passed since the formation of the government. Don't make the electricity free just now. Fulfill these guarantees in the fifth year of your government.
But we have come to work for the people, not to do politics. So we completed our guarantee just after three months and people are getting 600 units of free electricity per bill.
Appealing to the people of Jalandhar to make AAP candidate Sushil Rinku win, Kejriwal said that we have come to you asking for one year. You gave 60 years to Congress. Now give us 11 months and if you don't like our work then don't vote for us in 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
He said that the people of Jalandhar voted for Congress for 60 years but today no big leader of Congress came from Delhi to Jalandhar to ask for votes. While both the big leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party and both the Chief Ministers have come to seek votes from you.
When the Congress leaders did not even come to ask for your votes, then what is the need to vote for them. Kejriwal said that when Sardar Bhagwant Mann won the election of MP from Sangrur, he made a new record. I am sure that you will break that record as well and send Sushil Rinku to the Parliament with even a bigger margin.

Addressing the people, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that on May 10, you have a chance to create a record like Sangrur by pressing the jharoo button and brighten the fortunes of your children. He said that pressing the jharoo button means pressing the development button, the button of progress and prosperity of Punjab.
He said that our government is giving employment to the youth. So far, about 29,000 youths have got government jobs. We are building 'Schools of Eminence' for the better future of the children. The amount of work that we have done in the first year itself, the previous governments did not do that much work even in their last year.
In just a year, we fulfilled the guarantee of 300 units of free electricity. Improved the condition of government schools. 580 Mohalla clinics have been set up, in which more than 20 lakh people have been treated and more than 5 lakh people got their tests done for free.
For the farmers, we have increased the MSP on many crops and increased the compensation amount in case of crop damage.He said that I am in Jalandhar for the last several days and I have gone to many places for campaigning.
Everywhere people themselves are coming to join us and support us. Because we are simple people. We live among common people. The earlier Chief Ministers used to live in their palaces and close their doors for the common people.
Targeting the opposition parties, the Chief Minister said that Congress-BJP and Akali Dal have hired people in their gatherings. It is evident from their lack of enthusiasm. At the time of Delhi elections in 2020, PM Narendra Modi held a rally at Ramlila Ground where there was a crowd but it was clearly visible from the way people were raising slogans that they were there under compulsion.
The Chief Minister promised the people of Jalandhar that we will build a hospital here with top facilities like PGI Chandigarh. All types of treatment and operations will be free in this hospital.
The Chief Minister said that the people of Jalandhar will write history in this election. This time Jalandhar will lead the revolution. When the historian will write the history of Punjab, it will be written that at a time when the situation in Punjab was deteriorating, the people of Jalandhar voted for an honest party and started a revolution.
